Brushing for an hour

tooth·brush

  [tooth-bruhsh]  Show IPA
–noun
a small brush with a long handle, for cleaning the teeth and traumatizing my two year old.

So last night, I announced to Isabella that it was time to brush her teeth.
Normally, this is not a HUGE production; Last night was....
Normally, she runs around the house... away from me; This continued last night....
Normally, she pretends not to hear me; Again, she stayed within her 'norm' last night....
Normally, she distracts herself with absolutely ANYTHING within arms reach; Last night was a bit excessive but I figured she was tired and over stimulated...
Eventually Elias or I will pick her up and bring her to the bathroom and brush her teeth... the only snag is reminding her to spit instead of swallowing the toothpaste.

Last night was PURE torture!  I brought Isabella into the bathroom, put toothpaste on her toothbrush and asked her to say "ahhh".... she pursed her lips together so tight, it looked almost painful.  I explained that she has to brush her teeth so she doesn't get cavities... I don't think she cares.
I showed her my cavity to which she told me that I should brush my teeth... ummm... this isn't going along with my plan.
She started to get more and more agitated.... so did I.  This is where Elias had to step in.  Her took her to another room, closed the door and had a very long discussion with her, I tried to eavesdrop but heard nothing so I watched The Daily Show.
30 minutes later, father and daughter emerged.
Elias brought Isabella into the bathroom, put toothpaste on her toothbrush and asked her to say "ahhh".... she pursed her lips together so tight, it looked almost painful.

Eventually, I forced her mouth open through her protests and brushed her teeth BUT man o' man....  I can't do that every night!  It took an hour or more....
