Playing in the Dirt

This picture was taken 2, maybe 3 weeks ago... 

I am jealous of people who have perfectly manicured lawns with cute lawn ornaments... while my thumb has become more green since this photo was taken, my lawn doesn't look much different.  We just received a letter from the HOA today and I felt as though it was written directly to me and my yard.  

"As a property owner you have the responsibility to maintain your property.  Maintenance includes, but is not limited to; house exterior cleaning/ painting...."~ I know, I know... we need to pressure wash the house.. I swear we've been meaning to for at least a month.

"fence repair"~ geesh, I don't have a large fence, just a tiny space for the garbage... I'm sorry it's falling apart but at least you can't see the garbage piling up

"yard maintenance"~haven't you seen how hard we've been working?!?! I don't know how to grow grass... who knew that you need to dig up the dead lawn BEFORE reseeding?!?! Oh, it's on the side of the bag, you say... huh?!  I'll try again... as soon as I can.

"driveway and roof maintenance"~ I know... but it's the roots from the huge flippin' tree causing the driveway to buckle like that.... oh, you meant to remove the debris from all of my failed lawn maintenance?!?!  ok, I'll get to that... as soon as I can.

I really like my neighborhood... I really like my neighbors, for the most part... I don't want to be "those people with the ugly lawn" but I have been in the yard just about everyday for a month (I know I said 2 to 3 weeks ago at the beginning of this but a month sounds so much better... like I'm trying harder) and I started from scratch with the lawn again yesterday... 

So like I said... I am jealous of people with beautiful, manicured lawns because I so want one!
